Behavioral Sciences & Technology Dependency:
The mission of Wilderness Recovery Retreats of North America (“WRR”) is to transform the lives of young adults who have been affected and are challenged by technology dependence in various forms. The average screen time for this age demographic is 12-14 hours per day. This type of dependency will likely lead to changes in mood and attitude and may result in other forms of addiction, notably chemical addiction that is much more dangerous and life-threatening. As an organization, we believe technology dependence is an issue that needs to be addressed in an innovative and constructive way with clinicians and leaders of the digital technology industry so that balance and positive use of technology can be encouraged, and critical developmental stages of our young adults can be achieved.
Our programming is centered around supporting young adults in finding a healthy balance between the use of technology and achieving their developmental goals. WRR’s evidence-based therapeutic and wellness programs recognize the importance of technology in our daily lives while also nurturing the mind, body, and spirit and providing them with resources to pursue their vocational and academic goals.
WRR is in partnership with leading non-profit organizations and companies that understand and appreciate the impact that technology dependency has on young adults. These partnerships have the ability to not only facilitate the programming for technology dependency in young adults but also, assist in creating the facilities necessary to support such programs. We intend to work with responsible organizations focused on this issue.
